RMAN – add missing archivelog

Steps to add missing archivelog to RMAN catalog

  1. Start cmd
    • set Oracle_sid=SIDNAME
    • rman log=xx.log (write output to log file – easier to read and manipulate content)
    • connect target /
    • crosscheck archivelog all
    • exit
  2. Check xx.log forvalidation failed on which archivelog
  3. Locate the missing archivelog files
  4. Edit the xx.log files (every lines that have validation fail) to look like below:
    • catalog archivelog ‘path\archivelogfile.xxx’
  5. Run the above lines in rman to add the missing archive files
